M Moor

Plant litter material with a low to medium CN ratio (oligotrophic to mesotrophic) and an slight acid to shligt alkaline soil reaction and short-term aerobic conditions for decomposition and humification will lead to peat with moderate visibly dead plant residues and a medium to strong degree of decomposition and humification
(H 5 to H 7).

  • Vegetation of tansition bog or fen is present

Subtypes

HMO              – Oligotrophic M Moor

Soil reaction acid.

  • C/N of the Hen horizon 33 – < 40 and
  • Vegetation of tansition bog or fen ist present

HMM              – Mesotrophic M Moor

Soil reaction slight acid to neutral.

  • C/N of the Hen horizon 20 – < 33 and
  • Vegetation of tansition bog or fen is present

HME               – Eutrophic M Moor

Soil reaction slight acid to alkaline.

  • C/N of the Hen horizon 10 – < 20 and
  • vegetation of fen is present
